As a registered Architect with over 22 years’ postgraduate experience, Anna’s experience lies primarily in three areas;
Anna co-founded contexture to create a nimble, flexible, and adaptable studio with focus on delivering projects with efficiency and accountability. Clients engage directly with the leaders of the company at all stages.
Anna’s architectural career spans residential projects through to complex multi-million dollar capital works projects. She has been responsible as Senior Architect , Principal Consultant Design and Project Management roles within Health, Research, Education and Transport projects within large multidisciplinary firms, Qld Government sector and Design Manager within the Construction sector. The variety of projects she has been involved in shows the adaptability and flexibility of Anna’s architecture knowledge and process. Through this experience, Anna has valuable lessons-learnt, that has allowed strategic problem solving and innovation to be applied to all roles and project types. Working as a Casual Academic at University of Qld, St Lucia Campus, for the past 2 years, Anna has enjoyed mentoring and leadership guidance to 2nd and 3rd year students in Architectural Design of resilient structures and larger complex university buildings, enjoying the mentorship and leadership guidance to the younger generation of Architecture students.
Throughout Anna’s career she has gained experience in preparing architectural drawings, engagement and management of multidisciplinary consultants, leading user group consultations and project managing roles. Anna is industrious when undertaking defect inspections, and diligently responds to answering design and construction queries.
Her drive is for working on Architectural projects that provide clients with joy to live sustainably, with improved liveability/ workability. She is particularly proud of all her roles played in the lives of homeowners, to the larger scale complex sector projects. To name but a few: Qld Children’s Hospital (Conrad Gargett Lyons), Centre for Children's Health Research (Hassell), and the Outer Islands Torres Strait Redevelopment Primary Health Care Centre projects (Jacobs), which involved 4 islands individual facilities, spanning 5 years, including the C19 pandemic.

The list includes a range of professional services scope from briefing and studies to fully constructed projects with budgets over $1.5B.
During his 30 year Architecture career, Leighton has worked across a diverse spectrum of projects. He is a Senior Architect with a broad and solid knowledge base, leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary resources on complex project types including residential, industrial, laboratory, educational, pharmaceutical, cleanroom, animal house and healthcare. He is adept at commanding and synthesising the input from a wide range of project stakeholders to deliver cohesive project outcomes. He is meticulous, passionate and positively engages with the architecture profession, clients and industry.
Leighton displays a keen interest in ESD, process driven design and commitment to a true multidisciplinary approach. He is a highly effective designer and team leader with a focus on exceeding clients’ expectations through his strong customer service orientation. Leadership, innovation, adaptability and commitment are key aspects of Leighton’s ethos.
